Stop Dreaming, Start Living! A 3-Step Guide to Living Abroad

Is your life stuck on repeat? Dreaming of escaping the rat race and taking off for a better land and a better life? In this article, you’ll learn the 3 KEYS to vastly improving the quality of your life overseas.

Living Abroad - 3 Questions

My name is Will Craig and I’ll be your guide. No sense doing this alone. Let’s start with how it worked out for me and then we can talk about what it might look like for you.

Living Abroad for a Better Life

As I lie here in my hammock, gently swaying in the tropical breeze, I can’t help but think, ‘This is the life.’ The waves are quietly lapping the shore. The wind is rustling through the coconut palms. The biggest decision of the day is which friends to have over for happy hour.

It wasn’t always like this. As you might imagine, preparing for this day takes a lot of time, money, and effort. Or, so I thought.

This is the paradise I dreamed of for so many years. I knew I needed to work hard, postpone gratification, and save as much money as I could. Or, so I thought.

Here is what I learned along the way…

Don’t Wait Until 65

Don’t wait until you’re 65 years old to retire. In fact, don’t retire at all. Change your lifestyle. After all, that’s the part that’s not working, right?

Wouldn’t it be more fun to recapture the sense of adventure you had when you were younger; to rekindle your passions in work and play, to reimagine the lifestyle you dreamed of—only better. Regardless of your age, you can live a happier, more fulfilling life for half of what you’re now spending.

My passion is helping people discover a better quality of life by charting new adventures in educational travel and international living. For the past 25 years, I’ve been on a global expedition locating the ideal destinations for living well and being happy.

Living Abroad - Hammock

MY STORY: I’ll admit I do have an unfair advantage—I’ve been there, done that. I’ve canvassed more than 35 countries, opened bank accounts, and made financial investments in three of those countries, hold citizenships in two, and gained hands-on experience immigrating to and living in Southeast Asia.

The more I travel the smaller the world becomes and the less scary ‘different’ becomes. The more people I meet and the more cultures I experience—the more I realize people are more alike than we are different.

The articles and videos on this site show you how to trade-in a tired American Dream for a exciting Global Dream that combines exotic world travel with international living.

Although this might sound like an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, it is not. The lifestyle I enjoy comes at a price, but I venture to guess it’s less than what most Americans spend on ‘keeping up with the Joneses.’ A lot less.

You’ll also learn how to avoid the mistakes most people make.

Everything You Want

I shifted my resources, jettisoned the junk, and exchanged a lifestyle based on the accumulation of possessions for one based on life-changing experiences. I made simple but effective modifications and adaptations for living the good life with purpose and passion. I discovered everything I wanted was just outside my comfort zone.

I will tell you the ‘good life’ is considerably different from what I first envisioned it to be. That’s what threw me off. I was looking for the wrong things in the wrong places. Then, when I finally tripped over what was right, it seemed to come out of nowhere. My life now is not what I thought it would be nor where I thought I would be living it. It’s better.

You’ve Got This

What I didn’t realize over those decades of dreaming (and working) is that—at that time—I already possessed the ability and the resources to ‘arrive’ at this place. The easiest and most desirable path seemed too good to be true so I played it safe. I kept waiting; kept working, and kept saving. All the while, the precious, irreplaceable sands of time were slipping through the hourglass of my life.

Unbeknownst to me, I could have pulled this off decades ago. Hence, the reason for this site.

The good news is you don’t have to wait. I’ll show you the flight plan and you can steer your course—right now—toward the life you deserve. It’s closer than you think and less expensive than you imagine.

Prepare for takeoff.
